Executive functions

Overview

Libre Space Foundation groups its operations into seven executive functions. Each function has a single head, who is liable for the operation of that function. The heads of the executive functions together form the executive leadership of the Foundation and take decisions on executive functions by majority, as described in Decision making.

Responsibilities of a head

  • A head is liable for the outcome of the functions they head. Delegation distributes the work, not the liability.

  • A head is free to form a team and to delegate specific operations within their functions.

  • Heads are at Director level or higher.

Libre Space Foundation produces products and projects, and the Technical function safeguards them:

  • Project and operations management - Coordination of projects, delivery, resource management, synergies between projects, and daily operation.

  • Quality and engineering standards - Quality and engineering standards for everything the Foundation produces.

  • General direction - Strategic direction of the technical work of the Foundation.

  • Research and development - Exploration of new technologies and prototyping.

The technical plan and the technical direction of the Foundation are designed and proposed by the head of the Technical function.

Accountability

The executive leadership reports to the Board once per year.

Note

The frequency of any additional reporting to the board is to be determined together with the board.

Validity

This structure is in effect until December 31, 2026.
